The New England Bluegrass Band features
some of the most highly regarded performers in New England, throughout
the U.S. and Europe. Their CD recording has been called "the
best in bluegrass" by the leading national bluegrass trade
publication "Bluegrass Unlimited."
Proud to announce the latest editions to the band which in it's brief but storied
history has been home to some of the finest bluegrass musicians in the country. In
addition to long time members Cecil Abels, Ron Cody and Joe
Walsh, the band now welcomes fiddler-vocalist Erica Brown leader
of her own popular band and on Bass Fiddle, Amanda Kowalski. The
band has a varied background and experience, beginning with entertaining song
stylist Abels who splits time between his boyhood home of Mississippi and New
Hampshire. Mandolinist Walsh was Berklee College of Music's
first accepted mandolin major and recognized nationally as one of the finest
mandolin players playing, Banjo player Ron Cody a long time musical
protege of both Bill Keith and Tony Trischka is exceptional and has the range
and skill to fulfill the most traditional bluegrass licks or explor e more provocative
improvisation. Newest members Erica Brown has been playing
fiddle since being a young girl and has honed those skills well, even at a young
age she still leads her own fine bluegrass band. Bass player Amanda
Kowalski is an artist in all respects and the bass fiddle is not an exception,
where she has played with such notable musicians as Bela Fleck, Uncle Earl and
many others. The band is joined from time to time by former New England
Bluegrass Band members of years past and welcomes their participation.
The band continues to expand their territory both musically and touring with
a slate of new material brought in by all the members and a scheduled tour of
the American South in the coming months.
Former members include: Gary Filgate: Banjo, Roger Williams:
Dobro, Pete Soukas: Bass, Lincoln Meyers: Guitar, Chris Pandolfi:
Banjo, Zach Hickman: Bass, Jon Ross: Bass and many notable part
time members.
